I’ve Inspired Someone! SaberForge? Maybe?

Hello Everybody, what a day it has been! I have had it brought to my attention a concept of mine might have inspired a saber manufacturer ! Yes, as you my followers know, I have been creating “Superhero Themed Sabers” for a looong time, since March 2017 some of which I posted on Saberforge’s now defunct Forum. Well today the big company has decided to launch THEIR “Cerakote Super-Heroes” range of sabers! Now you ask what are “Cerakote Super-Hero” sabers? Well they are lightsabers built by Saberforge and they have a special firearms grade coating on them to make them appear in SuperHero colour schemes…..sound familiar?Assembly MK

The image above shows (from L to R) my “Blinding Flash Saber“, “Aquarian Sea Saber“, “Panther’s Claw“, “Wolverine Themed” and “Stark Lightsaber” and if you click their names you will be taken to each hilt’s post. There are more including hilts for The Guardians of the Galaxy and The Incredible Hulk, you jut need to use the search bar or Tag Cloud on the right hand side of this page>> to find the Tag links! (Click Marvel, DC Comics or Comic Books)

I have acknowledged the Trademarks and Copyrights of Marvel, DC, Disney, Amblin Entertainment, in fact any company that I have taken inspiration from and have invited them to contact me if I have content they want me to remove. I am proud to say that no such request has been made so far….or maybe I’m just not famous enough to be detected! I also credited Saberforge for the use of their “Adaptive Saber Parts – ASP” software to build the base hilts I photo edit.

However I will no longer be able to create designs using this application as it has been updated and my laptop cannot access it due to it’s limited specifications. I will have to concentrate on using good old pencil and paper till I can afford a PC to run 3D modelling. I am also going to have to diversify and try “SOMETHING….NEW!” and have ventured into artwork based on sabers! Something like this…

So sorry to my viewers but my output may be a little different in future. I appreciate all the support and kind comments you gave me, they kept me designing more hilts. I will have to end soon but I do have time to tell you I have a few pictures I have drawn and coloured in coming up in my next post

My days designing Adaptive Saber Parts hilts is over BUT “For Tyeth Editions” will continue in other forms and who knows I may be approached by a Master Sabersmith  who wants to collaborate with me in designing! Thank you all and till next time.

One final thing, here is the link to Saberforge’s collection of hilts so you can take a look at them for yourselves and see what you think (for fairness).

[Saberforge CeraKote Sabers]  <This was a link to their page but it no longer exists – but if you Google “Saberforge Cerakote” you should see some of the hilts they released.

Batmobile Lightsaber – Inspired by the Caped Crusader’s Car

Hello Everybody, and Happy Revenge of the Fifth Day! Now you didn’t think I would miss a post did you? I managed to find a reliable (if slow) connection to upload my data from the shores of a beach on Bal’Demnic! Revenge of the Fifth is the day after May the Fourth and celebrates the Dark Knights and villains of the Star Wars galaxy. But there is another “Dark Knight” and so I combined two franchises to come up with this new design. The other Dark Knight is of course BATMAN and this hilt is inspired by his awesome set of wheels in the movies, the 1989 Michael Keaton Batmobile to be precise. So here is BATMOBILE LIGHTSABER…..

As you can see this hilt means business and shares some of the ruggedness of the real Batmobile. The blade is a bold yellow colour to fit in with the Caped Crusader’s classic colour scheme and projects from an emitter that from “certain points of view” either looks like the air intake of the car, or, the cowl of Batman himself. The emitter also sports a snazzy bat logo in matching colours. The switch section resembles the side pod sections of the vehicle with radiator grills that have the armour plating. This armour plating idea continues along the handgrip which draws us to the pommel. Now the pommel I think is very Batmobile-like with the fins and of course the sound vent which replicates the rocket exhaust jetpipe!

Hopefully this second gallery helps highlight the design cues, and of course the Batman you can see is my friend, The Silent Ghost Reaper! (Click his name to see the pair of sabers I designed for him and learn about his online antics.)

So as always, even when I’m on a weekend break time has run out! I will have to end this post soon and go back to my hotel room but first I’d like to thank you all for visiting the site and supporting me. Whether you are a newcomer or a long time follower you are much appreciated. I have more designs to come so I hope you will return to see them in future posts. Thanks and, till next time!

Hulking Lightsaber – Inpsired by the Big Green!

Hello Everybody! Today I feel very green, because my workshop has been refitted with energy efficient and environment friendly heating appliances! (I hope my energy bills cost less now!) I also felt the site had been over-run with red recently, starting with the artwork for The Last Jedi, my saber for Allure Cosplay’s Darth Talon and finally The Flash’s Blinding Flash hilt…we need more Green around here. And to achieve this I have a brute of a hilt for a mean green rampaging machine…The Hulk! To be honest I don’t know if the Hulk really needs a lightsaber but maybe his alter ego, scientific genius Bruce Banner, would appreciate the technology. So here is Hulking Lightsaber

This saber is hefty! With twin axe blade style side blades and double handgrips this isn’t a weapon for a lightweight! The blade is a nice yellow shade to compliment the green and black scheme of the hilt. The colours are more closely matched to the cartoon and TV series than the more recent Marvel films version of Hulk. The body consists of two handgrips bracketing an activation switch. The bodies have nice black leather grips allowing an easy single or two handed grip. Though if Hulk swings this in your direction…DUCK! The hilt is finished off with a rounded Mushroom Cloud shaped pommel, sort of representing the Gamma Bomb blast that irradiated Bruce Banner and created the Hulk inside him.

1200
Did you call me a LIGHTWEIGHT…Don’t make me angry…you won’t like me when I’m angry!

Er, no Hulk, I said your saber wasn’t for lightweights to use! Back to a little history, it’s hard to believe but the Hulk first appeared in Marvel comics way back in May 1962 and the comic book “The Incredible Hulk #1”. He was created by the legendary Stan Lee and drawn by Jack Kirby. But even harder to believe is the fact that Hulk was originally a GREY colour! After the first issue was published the colourist Stan Goldberg pointed out how hard it was to paint Hulk as grey and keep the shading consistent so Stan Lee chose green for the colour of his skin. And the rest as they say is history!

And speaking of history time is fast approaching where I have to end this post and it too becomes history ready for my next post to take it’s place. I hope you have enjoyed this design. I’d like to thank Hulk for not smashing up my nice warm new workshop and to you my viewers and followers for calling in and checking this post out. Your support is fantastic and much appreciated. I hope you will return for further posts coming up including a design from the Star Wars Expanded Universe and a cult 80’s cartoon action series! Till next time.

Blinding Flash Saber- A saber for Barry Allen

Hello Everybody, and right off the bat I want to say I am a bit slow getting this design posted! There are two good reasons, first I had Talon’s Allure Saber – For Allure Cosplay  to display last week (I sometimes get distracted from my schedule if I see something or someone that is great, which inspires me to design a new hilt quickly and post the new one instead). And secondly I have had workmen doing repairs to my workshop all week putting in Fire Sprinklers. It’s hard to concentrate or work with dust, noise and vibrations from all the tools! So I had better get on with this post as fast as I can. And this is a fast saber, as it is designed for D.C. Comics (and TheCW Network’s) Barry Allen, but you will know him as The Flash…and this is my design….Blinding Flash

This saber is sleek, has a matching colour scheme and I think would look rather cool spinning around super fast 😀 The blade is yellow to match the accents found on The Flash’s costume and projects from a forked emitter, also with matching accents. The switch section is a no fuss part for swift activation and control of the blade. The body I really like. Some viewers/readers may recall I created a hilt called Oranje Moed Lichtzwaard – Orange Courage Lightsaber for a Dutch friend of mine and I came up with the idea to paint the spines running down the body in the Dutch national colours. It was at the same time I decided to create this hilt and I painted the spines of this hilt in Blinding Flash yellow. They remind me of the bolts of lightning which struck Barry Allen to give him his superspeed abilities. The pommel has a large bell shaped chamber which might even be capable of producing sonic booms it is that loud!

Again I would have posted this hilt sooner but as mentioned there has been a lot of other stuff that distracted me (such as The Last Jedi for instance) but I hope you liked it (finally). Luckily I still have a few new designs waiting to be unveiled (including a series of hilts for an 80’s action cartoon show) but I think I will post a BIG GREEN saber next as there has been a lot of red on this site recently.

I am drawing to a close on this post sadly (I am out of breath rushing about) but I still want to thank everybody who views this site and supports me. I have noticed folks visiting from Mexico, Peru and Brazil this past week which is fantastic to see. I hope you will all return to see more of my upcoming posts. Till next time.

p.s. And don’t forget you can always leave comments down below!

Panther’s Claw – Inspired by Marvel’s Black Panther

Hello Everybody, today I deviate a little from my intended schedule with a new design for an upcoming film (no not The Last Jedi this time). The film is the new Marvel movie Black Panther set for release in Feb. 2018. It stars Chadwick Boseman as the titular character and Michael B. Jordan as his arch-enemy.

Wakanda is a secretive African country and T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) is the appointed leader of the clans of Wakanda who is known as the “Black Panther”. He was brought up by his father T’Chaka, who was also the Panther before him. T’Challa’s mother died whilst giving birth to him and his step-mother was kidnapped so didn’t have  an easy upbringing. On top of that a meteor crashed into Wakanda and it contained a very valuable material called Vibranium. Vibranium had special properties that would benefit weapons programmes so the country was shrouded in secrecy to protect itself from outside interest and to protect the outside world from weapons that may be built out of the mineral.

T’Challa eventually becomes experienced enough to take the test to become Black Panther after his father was murdered by Ulysses Klaw, an adventurer and prospector who wanted the Vibranium. To pass the test T’Challa had to eat a special Heart Shaped Herb, and if he survived would gain superhuman reflexes, senses, strength and agility. He would also establish a connection with the Panther Gods to benefit from their collective knowledge. However, there is one thing Black Panther doesn’t seem to have, a For Tyeth Edition Lightsaber, sooo I have designed one for him and here it is. I call it Panther’s Claw….

This saber has an Amber coloured blade to represent the sands of Wakanda, Black Panther’s home. And the blade projects from an emitter which resembles the Black Panther’s Vibranium enhanced claw gauntlets. The emitter also displays the first pieces of Vibranium in the design, shown by the gold “powder coat” I have painted this hilt with. The switch is functional but has a nice mosquito/wasp-waisted shape to make spinning the weapon much easier. The body has the stripes of a Panther embossed into the grip (yes, Panthers have stripes but they are so dark the Panther appears to be one colour) and gives the saber outstanding handling. The pommel is similar to the one found on my Wookie Warrior Lightsaber and maybe the power crystal could be infused with the essence of the Panther Gods. Overall I think I have got the look and character of Black Panther in this design, it kinda looks like his bullet proof costume. Here’s a picture of  him to compare…

I have to say Wakanda is a technological country in it’s own right and one particular inhabitant, Shuri, is a technological genius who creates all kinds of gadgets and weapons (including the bullet proof suit) for Black Panther. Shuri may have come up with a saber herself one day, but in the next film due for release in Feb. 2018, I think Black Panther will need all the help he can get. Whilst T’Challa was away helping the Avengers in the last movie Avengers: Civil War, a challenger to his rule has emerged called Erik Killmonger (portrayed by Michael B. Jordan). And we will discover who emerges victorious and what happens after in time but for now here’s the trailer.

Speaking of time, I am once more out of it! But before I go I’d like to thank you all for checking out this saber. Your support is much appreciated, whether you are a long time follower or a newcomer to my site (yes hello Neil, I have made room for you here too!). I still have more designs to show you in upcoming posts, so do please call back to see those. Till next time.

Stormtrooper Rogue Saber – Lightsaber for the Rogue Generation

Hello Everybody, I am still busy “Tagging” everything so much so it feels like I’m working in a Department Store! But as alaways I try to bring you something nice or new to look at and today I have another version of my Stormforce Stormtrooper hilt. The funny thing is I have been struggling for inspiration recently but this saber was staring me in the face all along. I will explain that comment later but first let me present the new version to you, this is Stormtrooper Rogue Saber…

This saber shares the same parts as Stormforce and the other trooper based hilts, but this version has the new “Rank and Squad” colours added. During Rogue One the regular Stormtroopers appeared and some had these coloured patches on their usually gleaming white armour. The emitter has a long window which looks like the grill on the front of the troopers’ helmets and just above the switch section I added two panels of colour in-between the black ridges. The final panel which is yellow I added to the vented block just above the pommel of the weapon. Now this saber has an Identification system, so in theory if a parent had two younglings who both wanted one of these hilts they could buy two with a different combination of colours and rank. That way the younglings wouldn’t argue over who owned which saber!

Now remember I said that the inspiration for this version was staring me in the face? Well the reason is that I went to my local cinema complex to see Rogue One and managed to get the set of drinks cup toppers seen above. One of the figures is the Stormtrooper and mine is stood on my TV stand watching me! I was struggling to think of a new design and happened to glance up at him then thought “Wait a minute he’s got new colours on his armour!” and so I adapted my original repaint! I have said before that I get my inspiration from some strange sources!

Well that little design and a quote I heard recently has triggered my imagination again. The result is three new designs inspired by a 1980’s Sci-Fi film which was over 7 hours long! Hopefully you will be able to join me to see these new hilts. First before I go, I need to say thank you again for your visit today (and continued support if you are a regular visitor!) It means a lot to me. Till next time.

Demolition – Inspired by GOTG’s Drax the Destroyer

Hello Everybody, I am pleased to present my latest design in my inspired by Guardians of the Galaxy series. This time we will meet the “BIG GUY” of the team, Drax the Destroyer! Originally Drax was known as Arthur Douglas, a human with a wife and child living on earth. One day the super villain Thanos appeared on earth and fearing he had been seen by Arthur and his family, attacked the car they were travelling in. Arthur was critically injured, his wife was killed but his daughter survived, later to be adopted by Thanos’ father Mentor. Arthur however was rescued by the Titan god Kronos and reincarnated in a new body. So was born Drax the Destroyer, whose only purpose in life was to kill Thanos. Drax was reborn and this is the birth of my design for his saber, this is DEMOLITION…

Drax is an imposing figure with superhuman strength, resilience and at one time had the ability to fire energy bolts from his hands. He later lost this power but maybe this saber will make up for that. The saber has a medium blue blade which projects from a powder coated emitter. The powder coat is almost the exact same colour as Drax, and to reinforce the image I gave the grenade grip blocks a coat of red powder coat to represent the vanes and lines covering his massive physique. The switch section is nicely placed so that Drax can wield two of these sabers in either normal grip or reverse grip just like the daggers he uses at the moment. I hope he likes these and they will help him in future situations.

I have nearly come to the end of this post but I just have time to inform you I’ve received notification my copies of Rogue One are being delivered tomorrow! YAY! I didn’t even know it had been released, I have been that busy I haven’t seen any adverts or promotions announcing that it was available. So I will watch Rogue a few more times over the next couple of days and start work on some new Star wars hilts and maybe a few more Guardians designs for Ronan the Accuser and Nebula!

I hope you will return to see what I can come up with, but I’d like to thank you all for visiting today (including the viewer I had call in from France yesterday – I did see you, Merci!) I’ll get back to work now….Till next time.

Drax the Destroyer was created by Jim Starlin and appeared in numerous Marvel publications. Drax the Destroyer, Ronan the Accuser and all other Guardians of the Galaxy names, images, logos and related material are Trademark/©Copyright of Walt Disney Studios and Marvel Comics/Entertainment.

Gamora – Inspired by GOTG’s Gamora

Hello Everybody, I have the privilege of bringing to you a design for the “Deadliest woman in the whole Galaxy”. This woman is the last of her species (the Zen-Whoberis) and has been through tremendous ordeals in her life. In the movie version, Gamora’s  family were wiped out by a man named Thanos, but was then “adopted” by Thanos. Thanos had plans for Gamora and trained her to be an assassin, proficient in many Martial Arts from around the Galaxy. Gamora particularly liked using daggers and swords. Soon Gamora rebelled against her adopted father when she learned of Thanos’ plan concocted with Ronan the Accuser, to wipe out a planet named Xandar in return for a mystic orb (which contained one of the most powerful relics in the Galaxy, an Infinity Stone). Gamora stole that orb and tried to sell it, planning on using the proceeds to get as far away as possible from Thanos. This is where she came into contact with her future shipmates and things got…interesting! And I’m sure you’re all interested to see my saber for her so may I present ….Gamora….

I attempted to create the weapon of an elegant assassin. Gamora has a graceful athletic style of fighting due to the genetic and cybernetic enhancements Thanos gave her during her training. She now has super human strength, reflexes, healing abilities and has been known to defeat a platoon of trained military men in one fight! So this saber I hope is both elegant and aggressive. The green blade is framed by the six claws of the emitter with a purple cap to represent her flowing hair. The overall black scheme mimics her outfit but is also a tactical colour (not bright and flashy but stealthy). The purple grip vanes again are just to match her colour scheme without being too outstanding, yet provide a solid combat grip. The pommel tapers away to provide some sleek elegant lines.gamora 1

I mentioned that Gamora stole the Orb containing an Infinity Stone and as a result she and Star Lord, Groot and Rocket were arrested and imprisoned by Nova Corps. She decided to join forces with these misfits and another large individual (we’ll meet him tomorrow!) and broke out of jail. This group then attempted to defeat Ronan the Accuser and reclaim the Infinity Stone, but you’ll have to watch the movie to see who won.

I am approaching the end of today’s post, but once again I’d like to say thank you for visiting today and checking out Gamora’s new saber. I will hopefully have the last of the Guardians hilts tomorrow so I’d like to invite you back and see that one. Till next time.

Gamora was created by Jim Starlin and appeared in Marvel Comics. Gamora, Star Lord, Groot and Rocket along with all other names, images and related material are Trademark/©Copyright of Walt Disney Studios and Marvel Comics/Entertainment.

Rocket Lightsaber – Inspired by GOTG’s Rocket Raccoon

Hello Everybody, we now have a furry friend visiting the site in the form of a rebellious raccoon! No, General Leia hasn’t started recruiting woodland animals, I am referring to the Guardians of the Galaxy’s Rocket Raccoon. He hails from the planet Halfworld and was originally created to be a genetically engineered care assistant for elderly and ailing folks of Halfworld. He was given implants and upgrades so he had human like intelligence and walked upright. Rocket was also considered the law officer of Halfworld. In later appearances in comics, games, TV and films, Rocket developed and became a Military Strategist and weapons expert eventually joining up with Star Lord, Groot and the gang . Well I wonder if he has ever come across a Lightsaber before, if not I have one here just for him, this is Rocket Lightsaber…

This is Rocket’s new saber, and I kinda like it. First up is a pure white blade to match his fur, followed by a two tone black and silver emitter. The switch is a no nonsense gets the job done type, a bit like Rocket himself. He designed the gadget that helped the Guardians oppose Ronan the Accuser in the original movie. Rocket is also an accomplished pilot (like yours truly 😀 ) so I gave his saber a nice bright Orange “flight jacket”, much like his utility vest he wears. The Pommel reminds me of a Raccoon’s paws and claws with the ring of blocks looking like little toes and fingers. I think this would be a really good saber and it would come in handy. Rocket sometimes bends the law in the film version of Guardians and is reported to have escaped from 22 prisons so maybe this saber will help him remain a law-abiding Raccoon! I feel he is just conflicted and needs some guidance…

See! He’s conflicted, but I’m glad he appears to like my designs and is endorsing them…though he needs to leave the Jedi Mind Tricks to the professionals.

I am afraid time is running out for this post but I’d like to let you know I have a few more Guardians hilts to present to you and I may have a NEW GUEST DESIGNER making a contribution to the site soon! Before I go I want to thank all of you for your contributions to FTSabersite, all of your comments, likes or even if you just visit, is much appreciated. Till next time.

Treecutter Saber – Inspired by GOTG’s Groot

Hello Everybody, yesterday we had a visit from Star Lord and today we have his floral friend….He is Groot! Groot is a living tree creature (scientific name Flora Colossi – yes I studied botany) from the Planet X. Groot is from a Noble Sap-Line but he became disillusioned with the way his race treated the small mammals that worked to sustain the planet’s environment. Whilst coming to the aid of one these mammals (similar to a squirrel) that was being attacked Groot got into a fight with the attacker. The attacker died and Groot was exiled where decades later he met a genetically modified raccoon and his adventure brought him to our screens. Ok now to present my design, here is Treecutter Saber…

This saber has a translucent brown powder coat and it worked slightly better than I thought it would. Maybe the green blade to represent Groot’s leaves and foliage helps. When I saw the shape of Groot’s head I knew exactly which emitter I wanted to use. It has a fluted and notched rim that, from certain angles looks like the top of his head and it even has “eyes”! The body has a bronze Stingray skin patterned grip to give the impression of bark. The pommel reminds me of the base of a tree, the way you can see the roots split and enter the earth.

Sorry folks, that Spartacus quote joke just sprang to mind! This design, like a lot of my other designs has a version for Saplings, the younger tree creatures out there and here it is and the inspiration for it…

I thought I might call this youngling version HedgeTrimmer….maybe not!

I am slowly a drawing to the end of this post, but I still have time to let you know I have a few more of these Guardians inspired hilts including one for that genetically modified Raccoon I mentioned earlier and one for the big guy watching Baby Groot in the picture above! I hope you have enjoyed this saber and will return to see what is coming next. Thank you for your support as always….Till next time.
