“Tyeth’s Original” – Finally I design a saber for my own character!

Hello Everybody, today I have a treat for you all and for myself for a change. I have been designing lightsabers since 2015 and publishing this site since 2016 but in all that time I never got round to designing a saber for myself until now. If I recall I was chatting with Resa of Graffiti Lux Art & More (see her site here: https://graffitiluxandmurals.com/ ) and I mentioned I hadn’t built a saber for myself and she suggested I should…so I did, And it turned out quite stylish I have to say – most times when I attempted this project I was never satisfied how “my saber” looked but this one I did like. So now it’s time to reveal “Tyeth’s Original”….

Strangely this saber has (in my mind) an art deco style to it, almost as if I had used an old table lamp and recycled it’s stem to form a hilt. It features a sleek elegant handgrip which is accented with delicate brushed gold effect piping. This piping I imagined was conduit tubing that wiring ran through (to prevent wires being exposed as it ran through the different parts of the hilt body. The hilt emitter has windows to show off the blade as it forms before exiting the mouth of the emitter. This section looks like the socket where a light bulb would screw into a lampstand. Again this post is going to have be shorter than normal so I had best open Gallery Two for you to look at some close up details….

I think you can clearly see why I thought this looked like a candlestick style lamp! I purposely kept the colour scheme simple with a kind of brown with brushed gold making it look antique (despite being new and hi-tech). The colours also make the blade stand out too. The blade is activated by a no-nonsense illuminated on/off switch. The third image shows the mouth of the emitter with it’s “bulb socket” connector where the blade projects from. Finally, the pommel is a simple vented design consisting of twin concentric rings edged in gold.

Now I apologise once more but this post will have to be cut shorter than usual as I am here, there and everywhere trying to avoid the Dark forces out to hinder my mission (or am I sat at Tyeth Towers relaxing? Who knows? I’m afraid I have to keep you all guessing for security reasons).. But I can reveal that next week we will be revisiting my Shipyards division with a design for a new starfighter that is armed to the teeth and has it’s own Hyperdrive unit (which for a Snub Fighter is rare!).

I’d like to finish by saying thanks to Resa for cajoling me into designing “Tyeth’s Original” – maybe one day I could have it manufactured for real. And I need to say thanks to all of you, my readers and friends for checking this post out. Your continued viewing and support of me and my site is phenomenal – every little like, comment and subscription helps. Till next time….

    1. Hello Spira, I hope you are well. And thank you for the kind words. I could have incorporated an FT logo somewhere in the hilt but the Jedi Order would frown upon me if I were to do something as ostentatious as to decorate my saber in such a way. Jedi Knights are meant to be humble guardians and keepers of the peace for the galaxy – almost hermit like – so I left the adornments off. Thanks again.

  1. Congrats on designing yourself a saber, FT. I like the concept and colour scheme. I was expecting more flashes of green, maybe a hint at your logo like Spira mentioned – but you kept it simple in the end. I like the window glimpse feature.

Good luck on your ongoing secret mission!

    1. Hi TVTA, yes I kept the design sorta simple as I wanted to have a traditional hilt. The Jedi viewed their sabers as a tool, but an honoured and cherished tool to accomplish their mission.
ANd ah ys….my mission….bit of a sore subject that I’m afraid but I can’t say more till I resolve a MASSIVE issue I have with “the powers that be” as it were -basically I’ve been screwed by a certain department, 😒😞😖😤

      1. Yes, there is honour in the way a Jedi knight values his blade!
Oh, oh, I hope the department you hint at is not the dark forces of the DoH. Under the Imperial Tories, that dept has been known to make folk sicker than they already are 👿😰

      2. Hi there, no for once the NHS is totally innocent. No it’s another department and the couriers they employ. Again I can’t say much.
Anyhoo, glad you approved of my design choices!

    1. Hi there! I’m more of a keyboard player than I am a percussionist….but I think our friend TVTA has a bit of rhythm and used to be a drummer. Hope you’re doing well.

  2. Neil makes a good point considering your musical background FT – though he chose the wrong instrument… you’re a keyboardist for sure!

Yes, I can confirm I am a drummer and percussionist, self-taught since age 15, played live in UK and Europe, been in rock videos, computer games, sampled by DJ Shadow, a previous Guinness World Record holder in company of most drummers drumming. Drums fkn rock!

But this is not about me, but about us! And didn’t I promise we two would have a jam one day?

So… onto my newest challenge for you my friend…

    It’s called:

“The FT & TVTA Super Saber Duet!”

… and it comprises not one but two musical sabers!

Number one: in the shape of a Keytar for you (imagine, the shape is already beautifully poised, then the black and white keys, the abundance of control knobs!), and then, number two: a stealthy drumstick for me (my sticks of choice are Vic Firth American Hickory nylon tipped, for your research purposes – of course, seeing ‘TVTA’ printed somewhere along the drumstick would be nice 😁).

Imagine… we play a duet of Bohemian Rhapsody / Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds… or Van Halen / ELO !!

Your mission… should you choose to accept it 😎

    1. That my friend is an “Impressive….most impressive!” resume – better than mine (though I did perform in Poland and performed at the opening ceremony of a multi-million pound theatre in Lincolnshire!).
Now I don’t want to sound as if I am turning a challenge down…but it might take a while for me to get round to this one as I have 16 designs already lined up to post (taking me to June 17th) and things are a little hectic with my long running mission which is time consuming. BUT I will complete this task I promise, I just ask for a little patience till I can squeeze it in! (So much to do, so little time 😁)

      1. Hi TVTA, the gig in Poland was supporting the Sopot Festival which takes place in Gdansk. I was invited as part of a Youth Exchange initiative and as I worked for the Youth Services as a music tech teacher I got to go and we took part in promotional performances around the city (Shakatak, Janet Jackson and Boney M were the big name acts that year).
