Thank You to Sabers Crucible and Lord Nick Nitro

Hello Everybody and to Lord Nick Nitro. Today I am giving my thanks once again as the Force has looked upon me favourably and I have won a new saber! And I have Lord Nick Nitro of the YouTube channel Sabers Crucible to thank for the new hilt. Lord Nitro had a Subscriber Milestone giveaway and my name was drawn out as one of two lucky winners. As such I felt I had to come back out of the shadows again to say thank you publicly and let Lord Nitro know it arrived safely….so over to me…..

I think I may be getting slightly better at presenting YouTube videos…but I still don’t think I’ll make a career out of it just yet. Anyhoo, the saber is a fantastic little hilt that is very sleek, slim and extremely light, named the Kyojin (or “Little Giant” when translated). The name is an in-joke with lightsaber owners as the saber is small yet referred to as a Giant. It comes with 3 sets of basic sounds, has flash on clash effects and blaster deflect functions or you can switch the saber to mute mode so you can practice late at night without disturbing your neighbours!

Those are my colours!

Lord Nitro had two of these hilts to give away, the one I received was as you can see very much a Lightside version in silver with a green blade. Lord Nitro informed me when I emailed him that he thought I’d appreciate the green blade. However I would have been happy with the other blade had I been sent that one, as it was a black handled hilt with a red blade – very Sith like – and Mrs Tyeth would have claimed that one,

Black, Silver and Gold.

I also wanted to apologise to Lord Nitro that it took me a while to respond saying I had received the hilt but unfortunately the delivery driver for the parcel company in the UK that took carriage of the saber allegedly made TWO attempts to deliver my package. However I was in my home and had the door access intercom on and nobody came to my door. The driver saw I was in a block of flats and decided, “Nah….can’t be bothered going up there!” and took it back with him. I arranged to pick the parcel up myself from a Post Office and even then the driver left it at the wrong branch! Luckily it was a branch nearer to my home so I walked down to collect it. Anyhoo moans about the delivery company aside, I love this little gem of a hilt and I have two more pictures to share…

Lord Nitro runs his own corner of YouTube and has a channel named Sabers Crucible which you can find here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMHPVdveXxwZHph66T2Co6A

On this channel Lord Nitro takes custom lightsabers and puts them through a rigorous testing process in “The Crucible” and includes tests to see what amount of impact a saber can take on various critical parts of the hilt and blade. He does this so people watching can make informed choices of which saber is suitable for their needs – without having to find out the hard way and damage a newly purchased item themselves. And I can say some of the test results are spectacular with bits of sabers being launched into the surrounding garden and probably neighbourhood! So please take a moment or two to check Lord Nitro’s channel out and leave a comment or two, click the like buttons and hit subscribe to get notifications of new videos – it will help grow his channel – as will telling your friends about the Crucible.

Finally, I just want to say that Lord Nitro, you are a champion in the Crucible and in the saber community. You are very generous and I appreciate the new hilt, it will have a good home here in For Tyeth Towers. May the Force Be With You.

I will be back next week with much more, including a new Star Wars “Visions” inspired hilt so please call back to see that and future posts. Thanks for visiting today and as always Till next time…..

Babu Frik’s Torch Saber – Babu’s welding Lightsaber

Hello Everybody, today I am very busy dealing with parcels arriving and departing, new sabers, editing a new video….but with all that going on I still managed to design a new saber for my new friend Babu Frik! Today I will share that with you all. You will recall a few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be named the winner of a giveaway draw held by Darth Rage on YouTube….well I won a Babu Frick talking plush toy. There was only one problem, Babu likes to tinker with droids and machinery and…I discovered he likes messing with sabers too.

He was eyeing up my collection so I had to do something to stop him wanting to mess with my sabers so I designed a hilt for him. You might just be able to see something orange protruding from the box Babu is sat in – that is his welding torch/soldering gun he uses to do electronic work on droids.

Babu’s Welding Torch/Soldering Gun

I saw this and had a “Light Bulb” moment…that would make a neat curved lightsaber handle! And if I combined the functions of a saber with the functions of his tool he’d have an awesome lightsaber – and might leave mine alone. OK, so I had best show you what I came up with, here is Babu Frik’s Torch Saber…

This is a lightsaber Multitool! It features welding and soldering functions combined with a lightsaber blade all in a nice curved handgrip…it is in his colour scheme and I even added his name on it (he’s so possessive of his tools and toys I thought it best to put his name on it so nobody tries claiming it!)

Onto the features of the hilt, I had to reshape the nozzle slightly to accommodate a blade socket but hopefully it doesn’t change the shape/profile of the saber too much. Next is the copper/orange powder coated banding I added – Babu likes browns and orange and I thought orange would pop on this hilt. His name is embossed onto each side of the emitter and leads down to a nice curved section that really identifies this as Babu’s tool. Below the curved neck, there is the trigger activation switch and in the next pictures you can see I even added hex head topped screws to hold the trigger in place!

These pictures just show a few of the detailing elements I added (as the actual toy part is just a smooth part with no real details except the tip is orange). As mentioned you can see the screws holding the trigger on, then the colour banding on the emitter to identify this as Babu’s property. The last two images show the pommel and the “Control Matrix” – a series of small black buttons that control all the functions of this multitool saber. I really hope Babu likes this saber and leaves mine alone in future!

I am nearing the end of this post but I do have news, some good and some unfortunate. The unfortunate news is that one of my real life replicas has had an issue and needs repair but the good news is that it is en route to be given some TLC and hopefully I’ll have a fully functioning saber again when it is returned (and boy, was organising a courier to transport it a pain!). In even better news though I have received the parcel I mentioned I was waiting for last week and I have a FIFTH saber to add to my collection….all thanks to a YouTube creator named Lord “Nick” Nitro from SabersCrucible. I was one of two fortunate winners of a new saber in a Subscriber Giveaway Lord Nitro held, and it arrived. I will chat more about it next post and there will be pics and maybe another quick video!

So that’s about it…thank you so much for checking Babu Frik’s Torch Saber out, I hope you all like it as much as Babu seems to. I have much more to showcase including more sabers (real custom sabers and my digital designs) along with more LEGO creations, more costuming news (hopefully) and anything else that pops up in future. I sincerely hope you’ll all return to see these upcoming posts. Your support is fantastic and keeps me creating.. So thanks again and Till next time…..

FT’s Traveller Trading Ship – Built in Blender 3D

Hello Everybody, wow I swear this year is disappearing fast – we are already nearly halfway through November! Maybe it’s because a lot of things have been happening for me recently. I bought a new lightsaber, I won an online draw and received a Babu Frik plush talking toy….and I may have another exciting bit of news I’ll let you in on at the end of this post…in the meantime I’d like to reveal a new starship I have built! This time I modelled the vessel in Blender 3D and not in LEGO and I kinda like this new ship in a hulking sort of way! Here are a few images of what I built….this is FT’s Traveller….

This is my new workhorse vehicle for wandering the galaxy and obtaining parts for my saber building exploits. It is nothing fancy but was once a bulk transport ship that has had “a few modifications” installed by it’s previous owners. They were involved in the Slave trade and used the ship to transport their unwilling passengers to various planets. I was sent by the Jedi Council to investigate and ended up liberating the slaves and the ship. As the ship was large and could carry my usual ship, my Jedi Interceptor, onboard the grateful and now free citizens bestowed the ship to me to use. And it is quite nice now I have cleaned it out and made it comfortable. It has a Hyperdrive, automatic navigation and piloting systems so I can fly single handed….and it has workspaces and storage for my saber building. Everything I could need….oh and a few laser cannons on the dorsal roof section – just enough for line defence.

Well that’s the backstory/history I am giving to this ship. In reality I modelled this in Blender 3D using an Add-On plug-in created by Michael Davies (find a link here: https://www.blendernation.com/2016/06/23/spaceship-generator/ ) that allows users to create randomly generated ship hulls. You can specify options such as making sections symmetrical or not, the number of sections used and the dimensions (how many sections in length, width and height). The Add-On then generates a ship from a library of “blocks” unique to your numbers. This ship appeared from the values I put in and the only “tweak” I made was to rotate the forward fuselage cube with the “flight deck” windows by 90 degrees so the windows were horizontally aligned. I think it turned out quite nice and looks useable for the story I have given it. I may flip the two forward swept protrusions near the engines so they sweep backwards later but it is on a mission at the moment in America. Anyhoo the images in space are always a little hard to see so I visited Portland Oregon to test out their landing pad! Here are a few more in-atmosphere daytime pictures…onto Gallery Two….

I think the scale is a little off but it is difficult to work with the background images within Blender. The image is pasted “inside” of a virtual globe and wraps 360degrees around so the model sits in the center surrounded by the picture. When you look through the camera viewport you can see the “environment” but if you try to scale the environment image it warps out of shape! But I think you get an impression of what my new ship looks like. And it is carrying a package for me….I have another new toy coming! I am currently checking my ship’s Tracking and it has just departed Miami Florida with a new saber. It should reach me within the next week hopefully….I may have to wait for the local parcel delivery company to bring it to my door when it enters the UK. But I should have an unboxing to show you soon.

On this exciting news I will bring this post to a close, I hope you liked my new ship, I will try my hand at making a few more and will post them in future articles. I sincerely hope you will call back to see those and the new lightsaber designs I am working on, the LEGO building fun I’m having and just maybe some more cosplay stuff. Thank you so much for your visit to FTSabersite today and supporting me, it is much appreciated and keeps me inspired to design. So till next time…..

Theed Street Scene My Own Creation (MOC) For Tyeth Lego Forge

Hello Everybody and as I type this it is Nov 5th which is “Guy Fawkes Night” or “Bonfire Night” here in the UK which is usually celebrated by having firework displays. So if you are having a fireworks party or going to one PLEASE do it safely – be Firework Safe and COVID Safe…..I’d hate for anyone to have an accident. OK, onto today’s post….and we’re travelling to Naboo and Theed City!

For the past few weeks I have been messing around with the LEGO Digital Designer application allowing me to build virtual LEGO models. It has been great fun to play with as I wait for the batteries in my sabers to charge up, and one of the models I have created is a section of Naboo’s capitol, Theed City. It took a while and I have probably made construction errors that would make LEGO experts cringe (like using the wrong brick part for a doorway or methods to align pieces) but I managed to come up with a build to represent a “courtyard” surrounded by buildings and I included a few Federation Battle Droids (roger, roger) and an AAT Tank model which I downloaded from Eurobricks.com. Here is the first gallery….

I attempted to build the scenery from the Phantom Menace where Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi leap from a walkway down onto the street below and attack a group of droids escorting the Royal Palace occupants (Captain Panaka, Governor Sio Bibble, the Queen and her handmaidens along with a few Palace Trooper guards). The LEGO builder didn’t have enough dedicated Star Wars figures to represent Panaka, Bibble etc so I added the tank and droids standing around….but look closely and you will find one Jedi somewhere ready to drop down into action!

I was also able to add a few bushes around the scene but for a long time I struggled to find the pieces I needed for the flowers and windows – I am using a 13inch laptop and the screen is so small and there’s so many pieces in the builder it’s hard to sort out the bits that fit together! But eventually I managed to assemble a few plants and inserted those into the model. And they actually made quite a bit of difference, however I am not sure if it is my screen but the buildings seem to look a bit green and not tan as they are meant to look. It’s something I will look into as I continue to modify and improve on this model. But I had best show you the “flowery” pictures…so here is gallery two….

I am still learning what I can and can’t build with this LEGO software but I can say I have a few other models to show in future including a Mandalorian Assault Ship and a scene from a very wet planet which I made a CLONE of (<little bit of a hint which planet). Both of these models I think are better than this one as I crammed more details in. But hopefully you will return to see them and decide for yourself.

I am getting to the end of this slightly shorter post but I just wanted to let you know I am still working on some new sabers inspired by the Star Wars Anime series “Visions” and I hope to have another update on my costuming adventures. I hope as I said before that you will join me for those posts but I’d like to say thank you for visiting today and checking out this LEGO creation, whether this is your first visit to FTSabersite or if you are one of my regulars, you are all appreciated and motivate me to keep designing. Stay safe if you are celebrating this weekend and Till next time…..
