Happy New Year! FT’s review of 2019

Hello and welcome to the second half of my 2019 review! And we are in July now and I was starting to feel very comfortable using Blender 3D so I began to really push myself, starting with a double bladed staff for a young Sith Apprentice. The staff was for Darth Zannah, the apprentice of Darth Bane from the Drew Karpyshin “Bane Trilogy” series of books. Next was a saber for a Fan Fiction character from a story written by my friend Lady Revan, another forum member. I then went medieval with my third hilt and designed a saber based on Mark Hamill’s character from the TV show Knightfall and to end the month I posted a “Master Series” hilt based on Anakin Skywalker’s saber from the movie “Attack of the Clones”. This saber is very special..look closely and you’ll see why!…

The Anakin Skywalker Saber named “Vengeance Saber” has not one but two crystal chambers and I animated it to create a mini movie showing how it opened up! My skills were improving and growing more powerful!

August and I had the pleasure of posting a fantastic design created by a friend of mine named PsychoSith who I met on a forum owned by a custom saber manufacturing company named Ultrasbers. I reworked my “TY Silencer Saber” then I showcased a pair of hilts inspired by the Old Republic era of Star Wars. And in late  August Disney/LucasFilm released a trailer for the final movie of the Star Wars nine film series which had a distinctive folding staff lightsaber…so I modeled that too!…

The staff seen in the trailer for Rise of Skywalker had a hinge so it could fold from a double edged lightsaber into a double, full length staff saber and I dabbled in animation again to recreate this function..and it took AGES because my laptop is old and slow. (just 4 seconds took over 4 hours to compile!)

September saw me usher in the final version of my “Rey of Darkness” staff and it had a complete opening and closing function animation. As a side note, I posted my original 3D model within 36 hours of the saber being revealed and I posted it before a well known “professional” designer/ saber company posted their model! After this little achievement I posted more sabers inspired by PsychoSith, this time a set of two Shoto hilts based on his Altenweg II saber which came up at the end of September…

As you can see in the last gallery I even had time to open my first “Exhibition and Gallery” of saber designs! Plus I designed and built the building myself to look like the Jedi Council chamber of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant!

WooHoo! Nine months down and we’re into the final stretch! Only October, November and December to go! To see the offerings for those months click below to go to page FOR! Sorry I meant page four!

    1. Thanks so much! I get so engrossed with what I’m doing I forget or lose track of what I’ve done. I only realised how much I’d done and how far I had progressed when I counted the folders where I keep my designs. I hope 2020 is a great year for you as well!

  1. A comprehensive round up of your year. You have indeed been highly productive. Back up them folders. I am looking forward to seeing what you make next.

    1. Hello there! Thanks so much, and the designs and animations weren’t the only projects I did – I also did quite a bit of photo editing for members of the forum I mentioned. And fear not I have been cleaning the cached memory and keeping backups of backups.
As the Skywalker Saga has come to an end I am going to have to come up with more original designs and not “inspired by” replicas so I am going to have to stretch my imagination too. Thanks for all your comments and advice.

  2. I love your designs so much dear 😊 You are super talented! ❤️ 2020 is going to be a great year and a nice new decade. I just know it. Keep up the awesome work x x

    1. Hello there, I certainly hope 2020 and beyond is good for everyone. I know I am going to have to work extra hard because Disney aren’t going to be making new Star Wars movies for a while so I will have to find inspiration elsewhere….but I have done that in the past like I did with the Hunter-X-Hunter inspired hilt I came up with 😉 Thanks as always!

      1. Yes, I hope so too 😊 I am sure you will do great and find the inspiration you need. Yay, I love HunterxHunter so much! Berserk and HunterxHunter are my most favourite anime. Your welcome dear x x

  3. Brilliant round up of your work in 2019 FT! An impressive gallery for sure, and good to see some of those TV and film sabers we dreamed up! That’s cool you got to see TROS again, and in 3D! Have a brill and creative new year my friend 🙂

    1. Thanks TVTA (and Wooof! of course) Our TV/Movie Challenge sabers had to have a place in this line up because they stretched my abilities and were such fun! I just read your great Happy New Yeats! post, it reminded me that I need to read a bit more poetry – I did read more novels last year but not poetry…I will fix that this year.

      1. It’s been good reading Yeats again – I hadn’t read him since my schooldays! I love the vast amount of poetry you can read online now, which is a real treat, but always something special about picking up an old book 🙂
