Hello Everybody Welcome to 2017! I am posting this now at 5pm GMT on New Year’s Eve because I realise the Australians and people in Hong Kong etc have already rung in the New Year. (Technically I am still in 2016, how behind the times am I? đ !)
Anyhoo, I hope that 2017 brings you all everything you hope for.
I want to thank you all for your support of FTSabersite and myself For Tyeth this last year, it is much appreciated and I look forward to bringing you more new stuff in the coming months.
Hello Everybody, today I have a design inspired by Rogue One and Star Wars. Or rather it is inspired by one of the characters that appears in both films. The character is Grand Moff Tarkin, portrayed by the fantastic Peter Cushing. Mr Cushing was a celebrated stage and screen actor who leant gravitas to the original Star Wars movie (along with Alec Guinness). He also projected a sinister air whenever he was in a scene, something he shared in common with Christopher Lee, who later played Count Dooku. Mr Cushing and Mr Lee were legendary in the Dracula films made by Hammer Studios and appeared together in many memorable scenes. Mr Cushing passed away in Aug 1994, bur with the advances in Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) his character of Grand Moff Tarkin was returned to the big screen in Rogue One.
Grand Moff Tarkin acknowledged the Force existed but didn’t believe that it was thegreater power. He laid his faith in technology and the use of terror to achieve control over the galaxy. As a result he may appreciate this design though he may not necessarily use it but I feel it suits his sinister elegance, this is Elegance GMT…

I hope this design captures Tarkin’s sinister air and military elegance. I think it is both a useable weapon and a status symbol of his position. It has Imperial overtones in the black, silver and white colour scheme, looks neat and tidy but just has a slight hint of arrogance about it. This is demonstrated by the emitter with the three windows, which I reference with the initials G,M,T or Grand Moff Tarkin. The switch with the silver bands just lift the design so it isn’t a plain black handle and hints at Tarkin’s rank and authority.

I hope this design reflects the great Peter Cushing and Grand Moff Tarkin. I have to bring this post to an end shortly but I’d like to thank you all for your support and hope you will return for future posts. I have a staff for a “Force Sensitive Mystic” coming up soon and another Zodiac Series saber from Borommakot! Till next time.
I was already shaken by recent news of Carrie Fisher’s passing but this tragedy has now been compounded. I am now having to post the news that Carrie’s mother, the showbiz Hollywood legend Debbie Reynolds has passed also. Mrs Reynolds died in a Los Angeles hospital following a stroke. Reports say the family were making arrangements for Carrie’s funeral when Mrs Reynolds was taken ill and rushed to hospital. I am finding it hard to comprehend how such things can happen. It is bad enough that Mrs Reynolds outlived her daughter, but then for her to die so soon afterwards, I am beginning to question a lot of things.
My thoughts and prayers are with Billie Lourd, who, in 48hrs has lost her mother and grandmother. I hope with all my worth that Billie finds strength and at least some comfort in the messages which will flood in. The same sentiments go out to Todd Fisher and all the extended family.
Debbie Reynolds with her daughter, Carrie Fisher.
My words feel inadequate but I will say I hope that Mrs Reynolds and Carrie are reunited now and that the family find the strength to cope with this tragedy.
Hello Everybody, this saber is my way of tribute to the beautiful soul, Carrie Fisher. Miss Fisher was multi-talented, an actress, author, motivational speaker, script writer, Mother and Daughter with a survivor’s attitude and a wicked sense of humour. But probably her most famous contribution to culture was introducing us to the young, determined, Rebellion Princess in a Galaxy Far, Far Away…Princess Leia. Leia had sharp responses to Darth Vader and Tarkin and demonstrated great strength even when witnessing the destruction of her home planet Alderaan. This resulted in the boys of the 70’s and 80’s wanting to play the Hero and help rescue the Princess, while the girls had an early example of Girl Power, when Leia ended up rescuing the Heroes instead! So this is my tribute from an eternally grateful fan, this is…Forever Princess…

The emitter is based on the Graflex emitter which is a nod to Carrie’s on-screen twin Luke Skywalker. I chose the switch part as a no-nonsense but sleek elegant part, allowing the lines of the saber to flow, just like Carrie’s legendary white dress we first saw her in. The body section reflects the Princess’ link to her “Only Hope” – Obi-Wan Kenobi the Jedi Knight who smuggled her and Luke to be looked after by adoptive parents. Leia would later turn to Obi-Wan for help by sending a message with the two droids, R2-D2 and Threepio to Tatooine before being captured by Vader. The pommel is from a saber called the Epoch, a measure of time, and this reminds me of the time we were privileged to share with the Princess, Carrie Fisher.
Carrie Fisher – Forever a Princess
I am so grateful for the gifts Carrie Fisher gave me through her acting (and not just in the Star Wars franchise, check out When Harry Met Sally and the Blues Brothers to see what I mean). Carrie’s passing has affected me greatly so I can’t even begin to imagine how those close to her must be feeling but my thoughts and prayers go out to Debbie Reynolds, Billie Lourd, Todd Fisher, her extended family/friends and not forgetting Gary.
I am so sorry to have to post this message, I am devastated to hear that Carrie Fisher has passed away as a result of the heart attack she suffered recently. I am at a loss.
Hello and Welcome Back Everybody! I hope you and your families enjoyed the festive season however you celebrate. I have just a “Housekeeping” duty to perform before I continue. The piece of news concerns this site and it’s visitors, I would like to say thank you to the person from Finland who checked out FTSabersite on Christmas Day- You were my 300th visitor!
Now onto sabers! Just before my days off I got to see Rogue One and it has triggered a few new designs. I have a weapon for a Space Station Commander in the pipeline, but first up is a saber for a Resistance Captain! The “Owner” is a leading member of the front line forces of the Resistance and helped lead the mission with Jyn Erso to attempt to get the Death Star plans. Would he succeed? He might if he had this weapon, I call it the Andorian Lightsaber…

Yes the “Owner” is the courageous Captain Cassian Andor! And I hope this saber captures some of his character. The emitter has a double pronged fork which looks a little like the front of the U-Wing transporter seen in the film with it’s wings swept forward. It also has the lozenge shaped windows found in the ship’s sliding door that Jyn gazes out of. The switch has two copper coloured strips representing both Cassian, Jyn and the trust that develops between the two. The saber’s body is rugged and solid which describes Cassian quite well I feel. He may have acted questionably at the start of the film, but by the end you could consider his actions necessary and heroic! If Cassian had been trained in the ways of the Force, he may have had a saber like this. Well I can hope he would, and hope is represented by the blue blade, just like the sky…you only have to be brave and look up towards it!
This brings to an end this saber offering, I hope you enjoyed it. I want to thank you for coming back after the festivities (and the Holiday Sentiments sent my way!). I hope you will all return to see more in future posts and if you liked what you have seen here please tell others about FTSabersite. Till next time.
Hello Everybody, just as I thought I could take a break I discover that Carrie Fisher, our beloved General Leia has been taken ill. The actress has had a suspected heart attack whilst flying from London to Los Angeles, according to initial reports (11pm GMT December 23rd). I hope the news and Carrie’s situation are not as bad as they sound and Miss Fisher has a full and speedy recovery.

Hello Everybody, today I am going to post my last design before Christmas (I hope you don’t mind but I am taking a break for a couple of days, I have been busy!) I will return after Boxing Day and resume my usual duties!
But onto today, and I bring you the second saber inspired by the time travelling series Dr Who and this time it belongs to one of his enemies! This race of armour plated aliens hail from the planet Skaro and are the result of the experiments into genetics that their leader conducted. This Leader attempted to create a super species with unbowing loyalty. These genetic organisms would become a formidable army in the civil war taking place on Skaro. Unfortunately the experiments didn’t work out as expected and the creatures mutated and needed the metallic life support pods to survive. This made them nearly invulnerable…nearly, as the Doctor encountered and battled these creatures many times. They are of course the Daleks, which is the name of their species reversed (they were originally humanoid and called Kaleds) and one Dalek in particular may own a saber like this…I call it Vador’s Lightsaber…
Vador’s Hilt
Vador’s Emitter

EXTERMINATE! A Dalek!
Here I tried to capture the look of the Dalek casing in the saber’s design, so an all metallic look worked best. The emitter reminded me of the vertical metal plates and rings that circulate round the Dalek body near to the dreaded sink plunge…er, sorry disintegrator ray! The hilt grip also has vertical plates that look a little like the skirt like section of the lower half of the Dalek machine. There are even rivets on the grip which mimic the sphere like structures though not quite as many!  The pommel represents the bumper ring that circles the bottom of the Dalek casing which means they can’t climb up stairs (until much later when they upgraded themselves with anti-gravity devices – ELEVATE!). Now the name of the saber some people may think is a typing error by myself (no I didn’t mean to type Vader), but is a cunningly clever anagram of the name of the Dalek Creator and Leader..this guy…
I think you may be able to rearrange the letters to spell his name out! I hope you enjoyed this design but my enemy has struck again, I have run out of time and will need to end this post shortly. But before I go I want to thank you all for visiting and supporting FTSabersite and wish you all a HAPPY HOLIDAYS! I will be back in a few days time…
Hello Everybody, today I have a design inspired by a special traveller! He has visited the ends of the known Galaxies, explored non-space, alternate realities and even witnessed the beginning and end of time. He has two hearts and has one name, yes, I am talking about The Doctor! This alien hails from Gallifrey and is a Time Lord. His mode of transport is a special time machine which can camouflage itself to blend in with it’s surroundings (so the Doctor can explore without causing a disturbance!). However the spaceship he “borrowed” has a slight fault, the Chameleon Circuit which camouflages the vehicle is damaged and the ship appears as an old English Police Box! The spaceship is also more commonly known as The TARDIS, which inspired this saber…Lord Tempus…

A Type 40 TARDIS
I tried to create a look similar to the TARDIS (which is a Type 40 by the way) and began by choosing the blue colour for the grip section. This colour is pretty close to the blue used to paint the exterior (did you know the TARDIS is BIGGER on the inside than it is outside? đ ) The emitter is meant to replicate the flashing lantern on the roof. The switch section and pommel represent the windows and wood panelling respectively. The colour scheme is also similar to the current logos used on the show. Do you think the Doctor might use this saber along with his Sonic Screwdriver?.. I reckon they would make a nice pair of gadgets.
Time…sadly I am running out of it and will have to bring this post to an end. Before I go I would like to thank you for visiting my site and hope you will return in the future for more new saber designs.
Hello Everybody, today I have a NEW design! As you may know I have recently been to see Rogue One and it has triggered my imagination again! I have already created a few Rogue themed sabers (Katuso (K-2SO), Empire Droid, IRebel and Director) but now I have one for a Legend of the Resistance. This person was a Rebel fighter for many years and had the responsibility of looking after Jyn Erso after..well you may not have seen it so I won’t say what happened! He suffered many injuries and became less mobile, being forced to live in his compound on the planet Jedha. This legend is Saw Gerrera and here is the saber I designed…Opposing Force…

I tried to recreate a saber with a weather beaten look. It also tries to look like the body armour and respiratory equipment Saw wears and relies on to breathe. It looks as if it has been put together using scavenged parts in the long practiced tradition. I think it might have been through a few battles too, just like it’s inspiration. The blade shares the colour of the desert planet on which Saw Gerrera resides and the saber’s pommel is taken from a lightsaber Saberforge call the Rebel..which I felt was appropriate. The name of the weapon comes from the laws of physics, where Resistance can be referred to as an Opposing Force!
Saw Gerrera – Resistance Legend
Hopefully you can imagine Saw wielding this weapon, maybe in his glory days. I mentioned earlier I had a burst of creativity. This has resulted in TWO more new sabers inspired by a man with two hearts who has travelled through many galaxies and had many lives! I hope you will return to check those out. May I thank you for visiting and all the support. Till next time.
